Project Retail Eco Design
Atrium.brussels (now hub.brussels) works to develop Brussels and its shopping districts. And as businesses represent its main shop window, the Agency works to make them more attractive, through a diverse range of projects. Renovation of shopfronts, window dressing and reorganisation of space, harmonisation of fittings, and more. These projects have a dual objective: to artistically develop shopping districts and to increase the professionalism of shopkeepers through interior design.
In light of this, what services should we order business owners? Today hub.brussels must reconsider its purpose in terms of Retail Design and continue to improve the services it offers its users.
That’s why we’re launching an innovation cycle dedicated to Retail Design. Little by little, through interviews and participative workshops, the major challenges are becoming clear: Raising awareness of Retail Eco Design among our target audience, and inspiring and empowering them to act.
Quite a challenge, no doubt, as the topic is relatively unfamiliar; but a great opportunity to make the Region more attractive and improve customer experience!
Great ideas were generated during the cycle, providing a framework which was tested by business owners and tailored to their needs. These included a kit summarising the key concepts of Retail Design, a Safari Retail Tour and training on-site in exemplary Brussels-based businesses, a live ‘Design your storefront’ experience and a major Retail Design expo during Design September.
Meanwhile, a network of people aware and involved in the issue grew.
I made it my aim to raise awareness of the concept of Retail Design among business owners; the challenge facing the Region is huge! I continue to believe that, by joining forces, we can make Brussels THE influential capital of retail.
