Based on the observation that Schaerbeek was emerging as a very attractive district, a project launched by Atrium.brussels and Schaerbeek municipality aimed to boost local business. A media campaign gave users the chance to highlight their favourite shop through selfies, likes and love letters.

Despite hoping to continue this project, the council did not hold all the cards needed to secure its future. In light of this situation, how should Atrium.Brussels go about passing the baton to the council in order to ensure this project lives on?

A feedback workshop took place in the Lab, bringing together the Atrium.brussels team, members of the I Shop 1030 project and staff on the ground.

It was divided into three phases The first was “assessment”. Using like/dislike placards, participants gave their opinion on the initial project. Next, in the “guidance” phase, they pinpointed areas for improvement and strengths to build on. Finally, “horizons” was devoted to determining the direction the project would take in the future.

As a result of these discussions, we were able to establish a feedback score and rating. This helped us to win financial support to continue the project. Improvements were made to the original campaign and, with the support of project leaders, a successful long-term media campaign was established with the municipal council. Since then, the Schaerbeek Municipality Facebook page,  Schaerbeek 1030, has been very lively, actively promoting district life and local business.

There was a good dynamic. The workshop was long, but definitely not boring! It enabled us to understand the significance of the project by bringing together different teams. By discussing it together, we were reminded of things and our ideas were consolidated. It created a positive dynamic for the takeover of the project by the municipal council”
